Traffic data: outsourced
Another method of protecting copyrights is to completely shut down the interconnection of a person, who is down or uploading copyright protected content three times. This method seems to be very popular in Europe where multiple countries are already preparing such solutions. This seems to be a more fair method since it only punishes those who are breaking the law. But on the technical side this requires: Total control. All traffic needs to be filtered and rated. So governments are collecting data about your data, when did you send which file to whom and what size and hidden header information had the file you transferred. And even if you did not break a law your data is saved by your government if you are lucky. But if you are British, your traffic data might be outsourced soon. The UK is currently checking possibilities to hand over the traffic control to some private company. Sure these are only considerations, but in Britain it seems to get more and usual to hand over public services to private hands. Well most likely this will be not the standard in other countries but the tendency is clear: More control, more data collecting, more laws to protect copyrights, To make it clear there have to be rules, and the rights of the copyrights owners need protection if we want have quality films, music or other content. But the balance between commercial interests and individual privacy needs to be kept.
